Flutter

It's Sunday morning here...beautiful, sunny and warm and feeling inspired to make a card after seeing the challenge at Splitcoast this am.  I thought of butterflies for my card as we have been seeing so many at this time of the year.  There is something just magical about seeing a butterfly.

I felt the need to play with inks and decided to try a technique I saw mentioned somewhere.
I took a piece of watercolour paper, sprayed it with water then dripped drops of oil onto the paper.  I then took my Distress re-inkers (colours below) and dripped some of that saturated colour on top of the oily paper.  Since oil and water don't mix, I ended up with this unique and pretty background.
I cut a frame using  a square Spellbinders die and mounted the inked piece behind.
The butterfly from Hero Arts was stamped, coloured with Copics and then pop dotted onto my card front looking like it is ready to fly off the page.  It is hard to see in the photo, but the body of the butterfly has black pearls lining it.

Fall Inspired

Good Morning.  Sure hope all is well in your part of the world.  The nights are cool and the days sunny here in Ontario so the leaves have started to turn all the wonderful colours Fall has to offer.
Today, we are being inspired by the challenge at Splitcoast from The Christmas Tree Shop and this wonderful Autumn tablecloth:

Multi-Colored Leaves Tablecloth

I began by partially embossing my background.  I did that by placing my cardstock into my Embossing folder and hitting it with a rubber mallet.  I just hit it where I wanted a bit of texture to show.
I inked up the leaves set from Penny Black called Lush and Lavish by rubbing Distress inks on my stamp, sprayed with water and stamped.  When dry, I used the new dies from Penny Black called Autumn Jewels, to die cut them out.  I stamped the greeting from the new set called Fall Flutters with Black Memento ink and added it with pop dots.  The leaves were added to cascade down my card front.

Red Beauties

Morning.  I haven't ventured very deep into the world of digital stamps aka digis, but every now and again, one comes along that catches my eye.  When I saw this challenge at Splitcoast, I thought of this digi that I had just purchased from A Day for Daisies.
I began by grabbing my Copic markers and colouring the flowers with the bright red and sunny yellow.  I then cut the image out so I could mount it and it would look 'out of the box'. I pop dotted it onto a polka dot background for a fun and happy card.

Melody of Colours

Morning.  Thanksgiving is quickly approaching for those of us living in Canada as we celebrate our holiday at the beginning of October.  Penny Black has just released some fantastic new products just right for creating cards for this celebration.  I was inspired by the challenge at Splitcoast this am. so I was off to stamp away.

The new leaf set called Lush and Lavish has such fantastic textures to the stamped image.  I inked the stamps with a main colour of Distress inks then touched the edges with another colour.  When sprayed with water, it gave the leaves a blended, multicolour look.  When dry, I inked up the script stamp with Tea Dye Distress ink, stamped off then went onto my card front.  By stamping off, the image is softer and more faint as not to overpower the beauty of the leaves.
I wanted to add the sentiment in a more unusual way, so I cut a slot in my card front and slid the panel behind the greeting from the Fall Flutters set.

WHEE!

Happy Saturday!  I am working on getting some Christmas cards done, so when I saw the challenge at Splitcoast this morning I was ready to stamp. Today, we are being inspired by the most talented Kittie Caracciolo and her wonderful blog.  Here is her card that I was inspired by called Let it Snow.  Of course, I had to 'CAS' it.

I began by masking off a frame on my card front and sponged Distress ink over that.  When dry, I splashed some water onto the ink.  Since it is water based, it leaves an impression that reminded me of snow.  Using a fine tip black marker, I drew in the frame to add to the focus of the image.
A few weeks ago, I won some cute Digital images from Bugaboo so I printed this cutie off, coloured it with Copics and cut it out so I could pop dot it onto my card front.  The sentiment from Paper Smooches was stamped with black Memento ink.

Snowflakes and Circles

Morning.  Must be the change in the weather that has made me think about getting some Christmas cards made and the fact that I received some new Penny Black products to play with.  I love to stencil, so when I saw this challenge at Splitcoast I was off to get my stencils and Distress inks.
I began by stenciling random circles with a stencil that I cut from acetate using Distress ink.  Using the new Snow Dance stencil from Penny Black, I stenciled the snowflakes over selected circles keeping the balance of my card in mind.  I die cut the new 'Let it Snow' sentiment from the Joyous Wishes and then added the half pearls.

Season's Greetings

Morning.  There is something to be said about one-layer cards.  They are so easy to mail especially if you have lots to deliver for Christmas.  The challenge at Splitcoast inspired my card.
I began by stamping the greeting from Papertrey ink and then masked it with a piece of paper.  I then used the Embossing Folder Stamping Technique for the bkg.  Inked up my embossing folder with Distress ink then sprayed with water before pressing my paper onto the wet ink.
(I removed the mask over the sentiment as it was saturated with ink then applied a new one so the ink wouldn't soak through)  I inked up the snowflakes from Stampin Up with more Distress ink then stamped them randomly across my card front.  I then sponged on some more ink along the edge of the sentiment to further highlight that area.  Last, I added the black lines and the black pearls.

I am also adding my card to these challenges:

Create

Welcome to the weekend.  It is a dreary, rainy day here so it is a good time to be inspired by the challenge going on at Splitcoast and the Surya Home Decor site.  Saw this rug and started stamping:

I began by using my Tim Holtz round ink applicators and just twisted them onto my card front using Distress and Memento ink to create the circles.  I then stamped some textures over the circles using a few stamps from Kaiser.  To add a punch of colour, I dipped a paper tube, marker lid and the paint cap into black ink and added the circles to complete my card.
When that was all dry, I cut and mounted my piece on an angle for interest.  Love the sentiment from Technique Tuesday.

One-Layer Simplicity....Simple Stamping

Simple Stamping.  You gotta love it when you can pull out some stamps, ink and paper and make a simple card that is also easy to mail.  This month at One-Layer Simplicity our theme is HIP TO BE SQUARE; use a square on your card.
I haven't made a collage card for awhile so I grabbed some stamps and some Distress inks and started stamping.  This is what I ended up with....random circles and splatters pulled together with the sharp edges of the squares.  The sentiment is from Rubbernecker which I stamped in black Memento ink.
The nice thing about this card is that it would work for man or woman.

Also adding my card to these challenges:

Simply Create Too- SOMETHING NEW (mine is the sentiment)

Green Goodness

I am still struggling to get well and feel better but got some inspiration to create today's card. I was inspired by the challenge at Splitcoast and the these straws from More Sprinkled Joy Etsy site:

LUCKY Green Multipack, Chevron, Dots, Vintage, 25 Straws, St Patricks Day

I began by using the Embossing Folder Stamping Technique for my background.  You can find the technique for this HERE.
I inked up my folder with Distress inks (Mowed Lawn, Peeled Paint, Shabby Shutters), sprayed with water and pressed my paper into the wet ink.  When that was dry, I stamped the flowers and the sentiment from Rubbernecker.  They just have the most wonderful sentiments!

Yeah!

Well, it's the beginning of September and the kiddos are heading back to school today....where did the summer go??  I don't know if the kids are saying 'Yeah!' or if it's the parents feeling ready for them to go back.  I was inspired to create a card for the CAS Challenge at Splitcoast called Team Spirit.  I won a few digi images from Bugaboo so decided to use one on my card.  They are so cute and so easy to colour.

I began by printing of the digital image onto heavy weight cardstock.  I coloured it with Copics then fussy cut the image out.  I then cut a frame using a square Spellbinders die and mounted the kids behind that.  I added a piece of gingham paper as a backing to help make the image pop.  I used a negative square cut piece as my main panel then mounted the frame with pop dots in the center of that.  The 'Hooray' sentiment is from the Penny Black set called Sweet Wishes.

I am also adding my card to these challenges:

Simon Says- ANYTHING GOES
