Chic Totebag

Hello.
Today, I have the pleasure of hosting the Technique Lovers Challenge at Splitcoast.
My challenge is to create one of these totebags which is pretty easy to do and a great way to use some of the Designer Cardstock you may have in your stash.

You could use this tote to give baked goods, a gift or package up some of you homemade greeting cards to give as a gift.  You may even want to keep one in your craft room to store your finished card in.
Here is the one I made for Christmas this year to give some of my greeting cards:

 Good Morning.
I have a pretty simple card today using a sweet stamp from Penny Black called All You Need.
The little flowers look like hearts so I decided to make a 'heartfelt' thanks card using it.

I began by masking the sides of my card front with Painter's tape then placed the stamp in my MISTI and coloured the stamp with Memento markers, sprayed with water and stamped.  I repeated that process until I was happy with the results.
Next I watercolored in the background and let it dry.
I stamped the sentiment from the Sentiment Collection set in the corner.
I wanted to add more depth and interest to the background so I pressed some pieces of drywall tape on my ink pad and stamped over the bkg giving the piece added texture.
I also stamped and white heat embossed the Script stamp over the flower areas just because I love it.

Brusho Snowflakes

Meet today's card.
It's not a secret, but I love stamping with snowflakes.  I don't know what it is about them, especially since I'm not a big fan of winter.  Maybe it's their intricate design.

I recently picked up Tim Holtz's Weathered Winter set and wanted to play with it.
I got out my MISTI and positioned the corner snowflake first.  I painted it with a little diluted Brushos, sprayed with water and stamped.  I repeated that process until I was happy with the look and went on to stamp the other two snowflakes.
After stamping the sentiment from The Stampin Place, I used some drywall tape to stencil the background.  I cut the piece out using a stitched die.
The finishing touch was the beautiful blue gem for a bit of bling.

More Alcohol Inks on Yupo

Meet today's card.
Another one using Alcohol inks on Yupo paper.
Got some new Pinata A inks to play with and this new tree line die by Tim Holtz and wanted to use it to make a simple card.
On yesterday's card I used the same technique but different colours.  I made sure to add some gold Pinata ink into this one before I covered the piece with plastic wrap.  It reminded me of the sun shining through.
The key to this technique is to let the inks totally dry before removing the plastic wrap.

I die cut the trees using my Cuttlebug and glued it over the background.
The sentiment is from a Gina K set.

Valentine

Happy Saturday!!

Meet today's simple card.  I don't make a lot of Valentines but wanted to play with the new sentiment set from Penny Black called Friendship and Love.  I just love the curly font!

I just recently got some new alcohol inks and wanted to try them on Yupo paper to see what I could come up with.  Yupo paper is a synthetic paper with a unique surface that many different mediums can be applied to with unusual results everytime.
I dropped the inks on the Yupo, then placed a piece of plastic wrap over the piece and set aside overnight.  When I removed the wrap, it revealed this gorgeous piece of inked paper.  The rich colours are amazing.  I fussy cut out the heart then placed it over the scored card lines.  I made those by using my Scorbug and my ScorPal.

Keeping Warm and Cozy

Morning.
A simple card today.

This cute little scene is a very old stamp from Amuse.  It so evokes the feel of winter.
I began by stamping the snowflakes with a background stamp from Hero Arts.  I placed it in my Misti then inked it up with Mowed Lawn Distress ink and stamped.  Using the Misti is such an great way to stamp with large bkg stamps and get a clear, evenly inked image as you can repeat stamp over and over until it's perfect.
I stamped the scene image from Amuse then coloured with Copic markers, cut out and pop dotted it over the bkg.  I added some puffy white paint to the roof for interest which you can't really see in the photo.  I stamped the sentiment from Simon Says and added it to a white card.

Winter Wonders

Warm Comforts for Winter.
I think of cozy blankets, hot chocolate, a warm fireplace.

It's half way through January (already!) and time for another card for the
CAS WATERCOLOUR Challenge.

I just got the new snowflake set by Tim Holtz and wanted to play with it.  I love the distressed look of this beautiful snowflake.  I inked it up with Versamark ink and stamped it once onto my card front and then again on another piece of cardstock.  Next, I heat embossed both stamped imaged with clear powder.

For the snowflake on the main card front, I rubbed Cracked Pistachio and Broken China Distress inks over just the area where the snowflake appears.
For the panel, I sprinkled on Brushos just over my embossed image and sprayed with water.
I then cut down the panel to pop dot over my card front snowflake.
Lastly, I stamped the sentiment from Hero Arts with black Memento ink and added the clear gem.

Blessed

Good Morning.

We are half way through the month and it's time for another card for
Our challenge this month is to use Blue and Yellow.

I began by creating my blue and yellow background using the Embossing Folder Stamping Technique.
It is a very simple technique and a great way to get more mileage from your embossing folders.
I inked the inside of my EB folder with Squeezed Lemonade and Salty Ocean Distress inks, sprayed with water then pressed onto my paper.
Using my Misti, I stamped the wildflowers from a set by Tim Holtz with black Memento ink.
I stamped a faint text in the background using the Script stamp from Penny Black to add some extra interest. The sentiment is also from a PB set called Friendship.

Snowy Day

Happy Saturday!

Another chance to play with my snowflake stamp from Hero Arts and the new Zig Markers I got for my birthday.  For those of you that are not familiar with Zigs, they are waterbased markers with a waterbrush tip.  This is the first time I am playing with them and it was really fun to see how the colours would blend and change as I added more or less water.

I began by stamping the snowflakes using my Misti with Versamark ink.  I heat embossed with clear powder then scribbled over the image with the markers concentrating the blues on and around the snowflakes.  I sprayed with a generous amount of water to help the colours blend and let it dry.  I added some more watercoloring with a brush to darken some areas.
To add more texture, I pressed a piece of drywall tape onto my white Color Box ink pad and randomly stamped over the bkg.

I cut the panel on a diagonal and added the stamped sentiment circle with pop dots.
The finishing touch was the little clear gems.

Delightful

 Meet today's card.
I'm calling it 'Delightful' because it came together so quick and easily.
The challenge at Splitcoast today was from a site called 'I don't wear dresses'.
When I saw this dress, I instantly thought of using my Brushos and was inspired to make this card.

I began by sprinkling black Brushos over my heavy weight cardstock.  I sprayed with water to activate the color crystals and watched the magic happen.
When the piece was dry, I folded it back and forth onto itself to resemble the folds in the dress.
I die cut the flowers from Tim Holtz Wildflowers then cut the frame using dies from Memory Box.
I mounted it all and done.
Gotta love when a card inspiration comes to you right away!

The Flower Challenge- Blue and Yellow

Good Morning.

After the flurry of Christmas cards, it's time for some flowers and thoughts of the garden which is now buried under the snow.
It's time for another challenge at

This month our theme is blue and yellow.
Sunny and bright are a good thing at this time of year.

I began by stamping the flower from Stampendous onto heavy white cardstock with black Memento ink then I sprinkled on clear embossing powder and heat set.  The embossed edges of the stamped image help resist the paint.  Next, I  painted it using diluted Brushos.  It is easy to get lovely colour variations with the Brushos just by varying the amount of water you use.
For the background, I sponged my card front with Squeezed Lemonade Distress ink then I stenciled using some drywall tape and the same colour.  It gives a faint pattern and interest to the background.
I stamped the sentiment from the Penny Black with Memento black then fussy cut out the flower and pop dotted it over the bkg.
I added some black gems to the flower centers to add more interest.

Thanks so much for coming by and taking a look.
I hope you will check out the challenge and come play along with us!

CAS Watercolour Challenge- Snowflake

Happy New Year and welcome to another fun challenge at the

Here is the simple card I made for the challenge.
I love the variations of colours on the snowflakes all thanks to my Distress inks.

I began by inking the inside of my embossing folder with Versamark ink, placed my paper inside and ran it through my Cuttlebug.  I then applied white embossing powder and heat set.  By doing that, I created a resist background that I could add colour too.
Next, I rubbed Distress ink colours all over my non-stick craft mat, sprayed with water and pulled the paper through the wet ink.  I rubbed off the extra ink that was sitting on top of the embossed areas to reveal my colourful snowflakes.  To enhance the look, I used some more Distress inks and a paint brush to get into the small areas.

I stamped the Thanks from SSS onto a piece of vellum and attached that to the front.
The finishing touch was a small snowflake from SSS and a green gem in the center.
